End of week 1 pictures - Nov. 27th 2009

In a month from today I will be 25 years old :O I am freaked out, I guess I just don't want to grow up :P

Ok so here are the pictures...and yes my acne is worst than it was last week :S

OMG that huge pimple looks even worst in picture :O

I was not able to find the aquaphor here in Canada so I asked my sister who lives 15 mins from Calais, Maine if she could get me some at Ride Aid :) I should get it when she comes for Christmas...well that's it for tonight!

Tomorrow...end of week 1 :D

Hey!!! Tomorrow is end of week 1 and the skin on my nose is already peeling off, woah...other than that I have 2 big pimples on my left cheek and I rarely get them there..weird. Everything else is going great, I have a scheduled blood work for December 15th, 11am :S and an appointment on January 20th. I will be taking pictures tomorrow, not that there is any improvement but I insist on taking some every Friday :)

Day 6

Heyyy!!! So I got a call from my derm. at 7pm...woah..she works late. I am currently on day 6 and I don't have any side effects YET...tomorrow is picture day for my blog...you won't be able to notice any difference but..

First Pill :D

YAY just took my first pill !!!!

After a cheese fondue along with a Vitamin E, a Glucosamine pill and an Omega 3 :) Oh with a large glass of water :D

Cost

Ok so it's 11h20 am (Friday) and I am still waiting for the phone call but I was so impatient that I went to the pharmacy to get the presciption yesterday anyway. I will still wait for the call to start taking the pills. How much did it cost? With insurance it was 15$ and the insurance paid 61$ :) I was expecting 100$ ++ :D It's great :D

I will call the dr.'s office later today to ask again. I will let you know later !

Waiting game...

Well I was supposed to get a call from my derm. to let me know the results...no calls yet and her office must be closing soon :( Soo...I guess that I will have to wait tomorrow to get my pills...I am a little bummed (ok alot) about this !!!!!

Morning of blood test

In about an hour I will be having my blood taking out of my arm...that sounds yummy right?! It's for a good cause but the waiting game will be killing me...I hope I get my result super quick :S

Blood Test

Soo....I'm finally going for blood tests tomorrow... I can say that I am a little bit (ok a big bit) scared of needles but I just have to tell myself that it is worth it :) I should be taking my first pill on Thursday if all is good!!!

Great news :D

Yes you guessed it...I'm getting Accutane :) I am sooo happy! I went to see the doctor today and she said the only option would be Accutane...she checked my face and I guess I had a couple a scars (I didn't know :o) and a cysts! I have a blood sample test on Tuesday morning and I should be able to go get my prescription around Thursday of next week :) I am already looking at products to purchase to make the 4-6 months easier to bare. I am planning on getting some aquaphor as I read super good reviews from accutane users. I will also buy some nasal gel. I hate blood tests..eww..needles. I hope everything goes well. I'll report next week.

A little about me...

My name is X and I am a 24 years old (soon to be 25) women. I have been suffering from acne since I was around 19. Today is Tuesday and I have an appointment with my dermatologist on Thursday. Let me tell you a about my acne history: I visited my derma around 3 years ago to receive my prescription for Accutane and I received my sheet to go for my blood test, before I could go for the blood test I had a huge migraine. My doctor sent me to a Neurologist who recommended that I stop taking the birth control pill. I was around 16 when my doctor put me on the pill, unfortunately I was getting nausea for 2 days when I took one pill. She made me try about 5 different kinds and they all had the same effect. She then put me on depo-provera which is the 4 times a year injection. That was great but I had to stop taking it after 4 years since it was proven to be bad for bones. I then tried the patch and the Nuva ring and it did the same things as the pill. She then gave me a new brand of pills which worked :) No more side effects :) I was really happy! But then came my migraine...She suggested the Mirena which is a IUD (plastic T that is inserted in my cervix (yes ouch!)). I now have the Mirena and I think it's making my hair fall but that's another story! The point of the story -> I can now take Accutane and end this misery :) I will do the best I can to post daily about my Accutane experience, the ups and downs as well as weekly pictures (on Friday). I have added black bars on my eyes, nose and mouth as I am really self conscious and only my boyfriend and my parents have seen me without any makeup aka my mask.
